Far Far West – Are All Levels Set at Night?

Published April 29, 2026 · Updated April 29, 2026

If you just picked up Far Far West and booted up your first mission, you might be wondering if you need to adjust your monitor’s brightness. The game is undeniably dark, and if you’re trying to figure out if the whole game is cloaked in shadows before you hit that 2-hour Steam refund limit, you aren’t alone.

Recently, a player took to the Steam General Discussions to ask exactly that: Are all the levels at night-time? They loved the gameplay, but felt the gloomy look might get old fast and wanted to know if daytime missions existed.

Thankfully, the developer stepped in to clear things up. Here is what you need to know about the map lighting in Far Far West.

The Short Answer: No, Not Every Map is at Night

According to both the community and the developer, you won’t be stuck in the pitch black for your entire playthrough.

Fellow players confirmed that the majority of the missions actually take place during the day. Currently, there is only one specific map that is set entirely at night: Canyon.

Players have actually praised the Canyon map for its nighttime setting, especially in co-op, noting that the darkness adds a fresh, challenging twist to the gameplay loop.

The Catch: The “Spooky and Foggy” Vibe

While most maps are technically set during the “day,” you shouldn’t expect bright blue skies and sunshine.

The developer, Arno, clarified the studio’s artistic direction for the game:

“Canyon is during the night, other maps are during the ‘day’. There’s no actual clear sky in any map except for the lobby, as we went for a spooky and foggy vibe overall.”

So, while you will be playing in daylight, that daylight is going to be heavily filtered through thick fog and a generally eerie atmosphere. The only place in the game where you will see a genuinely clear sky is in the lobby area.

Will We Get a Bright Sunlight Option?

The developer’s explanation makes sense for the game’s intended mood, but not everyone is a fan of the constant gloom.

Some players are already asking the devs to add an option for clear, bright sunlight during the standard daytime maps. Since the lobby already proves the game looks gorgeous with clear skies, players are hoping they might get a toggle or a weather option in a future update to break up the endless fog.

For now, though, expect a heavy dose of spookiness no matter what time of day your mission takes place!
