Manor Lords – How to Fix Iron Mine and Captured Town Bug

Published October 5, 2025

This is your guide to the biggest bugs and issues in the Manor Lords experimental beta. We’re breaking down the frustrating iron mine bug and the glitch that stops you from building in captured towns, and giving you the community-found fixes.

Aight, so you’ve jumped into the new experimental beta for Manor Lords, ready to check out all the new features. But you’ve run into some super frustrating issues that are killing the vibe. Your iron mines aren’t producing anything, and you can’t even build in the new towns you just conquered. What’s the deal?

Don’t trip. You’re not doing anything wrong. Playing on the beta branch means you’re on the front lines, and you’re gonna run into some bugs. This guide is your community-sourced report on two of the biggest issues players are facing right now, with the best-known fixes and workarounds.

The Iron Mine Bug: Why Aren’t You Getting Any Ore?

This is the big one everyone’s talking about. You’ve found a rich iron deposit, built a mine, maybe even spent the resources to upgrade it to a Deep Mine, and assigned four families to work it. And your total output is… like, two pieces of ore. It’s a big yikes.

Is it a Bug? Yeah, Probably.

No cap, this seems to be a major bug or a serious balancing issue in the current beta. You are not doing anything wrong. The community has widely confirmed that the production numbers for iron mines, especially Deep Mines, are totally busted right now. The Clay Mine and Stone Quarry seem to be working just fine, which points to this being an iron-specific problem.

The production is so low that players are reporting they can’t even mine enough iron ore to forge the tools needed for the mine’s own maintenance. It’s a completely broken loop.

The “Fix” (aka The Workaround)

There is no true “fix” for this right now other than waiting for the developer to release a hotfix. However, here is the best way to manage the situation.

  • Don’t Upgrade to a Deep Mine (For Now): Players have noted that the problem gets way worse after you upgrade to a Deep Mine. The basic Iron Mine, while still slow, seems to have a better output. For now, the best strat is to stick with the basic Iron Mine and avoid the deep upgrade.
  • Import Your Iron: If you have a solid economy and a trade route established, you might just have to import your iron and tools for a while. It’s not ideal, but it’s a way to keep your village running while you wait for a patch.
  • Beware of Collapses: As a side note, players have also reported that building multiple mines close to each other seems to drastically increase the chance of a mine collapse, sometimes happening as often as once a month. Be sure to space out your mines.

The Captured Town Bug: Why Can’t You Build?

So you’ve just won a glorious battle and taken over an AI lord’s entire region. You’re ready to start building and making it your own, but you open the build menu and… nothing. You can’t even place a road.

The Confirmed Fix: Just Restart the Game

Aight, don’t panic. The community has found a super simple, if slightly annoying, fix for this one.

All you have to do is save your game, quit to the main menu, and then load your save back up.

When you load back in, the game should correctly recognize that you now own the region, and all your building options should be available. It’s likely just a bug where the game’s ownership state doesn’t refresh properly right after you capture a new territory.

What to Try if a Restart Doesn’t Work

If for some reason a simple restart doesn’t fix it, here are a couple of other things the community has suggested that you should double-check.

  • Officially Claim the Territory: Make sure you have enough money in your Treasury (your personal Lord’s coffers, not your town’s Regional Wealth) to officially claim the new region. This might be a required step that the game isn’t telling you about.
  • The Settler’s Camp Theory: Another theory is that you might need to treat the captured region like a brand new, empty one. This could mean you need to send a Settler’s Camp from your starting town to “activate” the new region for building.

But 99% of the time, a simple save and restart will do the trick. Now go build your empire.
