Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds – How to Beat Level 7 Rivals

Stuck at Rival Level 7 in Sonic Racing CrossWorlds? Our guide explains the massive difficulty spike and gives you a step-by-step plan to improve your skills, learn shortcuts, and finally beat the hard-mode AI.

The Level 7 Difficulty Spike Explained

It’s a super common experience for players. You cruise through the first six rival levels, beating each one without much of a sweat. Then you hit Level 7, and it feels like you’ve slammed into a brick wall.

You’re not imagining it. The game likely groups its 10 rival levels into tiers, and Level 7 is the start of the “Hard” difficulty. It’s not just your main rival that gets a speed boost; all of the AI opponents on the track become faster, smarter, and way more aggressive.

Your Roadmap to Beating Hard-Mode Rivals

Beating the Level 7+ rivals isn’t about finding one simple trick. It’s the game’s way of telling you it’s time to master the core mechanics. Here’s a clear roadmap to “get good” and leave the hard-mode AI in the dust.

Step 1: Lower the Difficulty (No Shame!)

First things first, if you’re getting frustrated, just turn the rival difficulty back down to 5 or 6. There’s zero shame in it. The main goal is to keep having fun while you unlock tracks and gadgets.

The only time you absolutely need to beat a max-level rival is for a single, specific Chao Challenge in the Race Park. For everything else, play at a level that feels comfortable for you.

Step 2: Master the Tracks in Time Trial

Time Trial is your new best friend. This is your training ground where you can learn the tracks inside and out without the pressure of aggressive AI racers constantly bumping you off the road.

The single most important thing to focus on in Time Trial is finding and mastering the shortcuts. Every track is littered with them, and they are the biggest source of saved time. The “Hard” AI uses them, and if you’re not, you’re at a huge disadvantage.

Step 3: Unlock All the Gadgets

Your driving skill is only half the battle; your build is the other half. To compete with the tougher AI, you need to have a full arsenal of powerful gadgets to choose from.

Play through Grand Prix, Quick Races, and other modes on a lower difficulty to farm experience and unlock every gadget. A good build can make a massive difference, especially on higher difficulties.

Step 4: The Super Sonic Question

You’ll often hear the advice, “just unlock Super Sonic.” He’s a very powerful character you get for beating all the offline rivals, and he makes clearing the remaining GP challenges much easier.

However, there’s a huge catch: Super Sonic can only be used in offline GP mode. If your main goal is to get better for online racing, you shouldn’t rely on him. He’s a great tool for 100% completion, but he won’t help you improve your core skills.
